Watercolour and Bodycolour with chalk on paper

h: 50 w: 70 d: 1 (cms).

Inspired by the coastline near my home on Shetland. I walk this coastline every day, in all weathers. Fjora refers to the foreshore, dry at ebb-tide and covered at flood-tide. And the word was often used by fishermen for limpets as they are found in that location. The word derives from Old Norse.

Watercolour and bodycolour on paper

h: 51 w: 33 d: 1 (cms).

Speet is a Shetland dialect word for heavy rain. The painting is inspired by my daily walks in various weather conditions around the coast near my home on the westside of Shetland. The making of the painting mirrored the weather...lots of water running down plus the addition of a scrubbing brush.

Watercolour on paper

h: 50 w: 70 d: 1 (cms).

Inspired by the rugged coastal scenery near my home on the westside of Shetland. During the winter the colour seems drained from the landscape.
