Artists' book

h: 25 w: 15 d: 5 (cms).

This artists' book was made after the first lockdown in 2020 when I was not allowed to go sea kayaking which I do regularly all year round. I travelled in my mind instead, thinking of all the places I would like to go to. Jura is on top of my wish list. Three-panelled hardback book with bookcloth, elastic band, envelopes from tracing paper with sections of used Admiralty sea charts, a brass divider to measure the distance and a complete chart folded.

Artists' book

h: 13 w: 13 d: 3 (cms).

Inspired by "Your House" book from designer Olafur Eliasson, I made this artists' book during lockdown this winter when we spent most of our time at home. It has a hardback cover, a case binding and headbands. Inside are 51 handcut pages from offcuts received from a printer, showing a 3D relief of the space inside a house. The end sheets contain copies of notes and drawings from my father-in-law who worked as a construction supervisor in The Netherlands. "Constructieleer" is Dutch for construction theory. The book comes in a slipcase covered with the same notes and in the shape of a roof.
